11 Dec Munsiyari – An Unexplored Place in Uttarakhand Which is Really Better Than Mussoorie & Nainital
Munsiyari, a small hill station in Uttarakhand near Indo-Nepal border situated at a height of 2300 m in the foothills of the mighty Himalayan range. Munsiyari was on our travel bucket list since long so we decided to explore Munsiyari & I must say this place is full of the warmth of love and hospitality.
We visited Munsiyari in the month of October & the weather pleasant in the entire district of Pithoragarh. This hill station is a heaven for adventure freaks and trekking lovers where you will find less number of tourists as compared to Mussoorie & Nainital & other hill station. Munisyari is a place which is mostly known as Panchachuli Peak View.

Our Story:
Since, we started our trip from Muzaffarnagar city so took one night halt in Bageshwar which is again a small town & known for its scenic beauty, Glaciers, Rivers and Temples. On the next day, we reached Munsiyari on a cloudy cold wintry evening of Himalayas with one break to Birthi Waterfalls which is 95 km from Bageshwar. In Munisyari, we stayed in Milam Inn Resort where we were not able to see the Panchachuli Peak due to clouds but this feeling was short-lived, very quickly clouds dispersed and Munsiyari came into view.
Next day we headed towards Khaliya (Khuliya) Top trek which is an easy 4km trek from Munsiyari which gives you a magnificent view of great Himalayan ranges. This was a great experience to see the five famous peaks namely Panchachuli, Hardeol, Rajrambha, Nandakot and Nandadevi. This trek is super easy trek even for a first time trekker. One can complete this trek in 2-3 hours depends on his/her speed & can come back on the same back from there if you are running with short time. But we decided to stay there only for a night in Youth Hostel – YHAI, you can also opt for camping. The Manager – Surender of this hostel was so nice & kind. We will recommend you to stay there once to experience a beautiful sunrise from Panchachuli Peak.
Here are the top 5 places that you can visit in Munsiyari trip:
1. Birthi Falls
2. Panchachuli Peak – Panchachuli, Hardeol, Rajrambha, Nandakot and Nandadevi
3. Khaliya Top
4. Nanda Devi Temple
5. Skiing in Khalia Top (in the month of January & February only)
One should enjoy numerous glaciers on their trip to Munsiyari & while trekking, one must experience the bird watching & the nature as well. We were mesmerized with breath-taking views of snow clad mountains, waterfalls, natural lakes, and rare varieties of birds. Munsiyari is a perfect hill station for travelers because it is less crowded & unexplored.
Do share your experience with us if you have visited or if you are planning to visit Munsiyari.
